Our Trip to Arizona: What I Packed + What I Wore

Fritz and I just got back from our trip to Phoenix and Sedona, and man…Arizona is a special place.

I’m typically the girl who throws anything and everything in my suitcase. I tell myself it’s because I like to have options, but the reality is I don’t have much of a plan. This time, I made it a point to be a bit more strategic in the packing department.

Top Packing Tips

CHOOSE A COLOR PALETTE, AND PACK ACCORDINGLY

Identifying a color palette will make it much easier to pull items from your closet that you can easily mix and match. I live in shades of blue (navy, mostly), black, cream and brown, so I kept that in mind when pulling pieces from my closet.

VISUALIZE YOUR OUTFITS AHEAD OF TIME

Lay everything out on your bed so you can visualize your outfits. You’ll realize you probably need less than you think you do — especially if you live by the color palette tip. In hindsight, I honestly could have packed less than I did. So if you’re on the fence about bringing that one sweater, chances are you could do without.

HANG YOUR CLOTHES WHEN YOU ARRIVE

Not only will this tip make you feel a bit more at home, but it’s also a great way to have everything you packed readily available (and free from excess wrinkles).

INVEST IN PACKING CUBES

Packing cubes are literally a GAME CHANGER. I honestly have no idea how I traveled so much before without them. They help keep everything organized, and if you ask me, I think they save more space than rolling.
